Course Description

Dates: 7/17 & 7/18 (2024) Time: 4:30-5:30 PM Location: Kitty Rex Studio, 314 East Seneca Street, Manlius NY, 13104 Cost: $50 Teacher: Stephanie Porcello For students going into grade 8 or high school. All skill levels welcome. A space for teens to create art. My materials cabinets will be wide open! Artists will have full artistic freedom to use and explore a variety of media such as charcoal, ink, acrylic paint, pastels, watercolor, and paint pens. Similar to an independent study, this is a student focused time. The artists choose what to create. I'll have planned projects too for artists craving more structure. Teens at my studio enjoy activities such as portrait drawing, sketching, painting, and digital art. During this time, I'll have lots of opportunities to teach artists one-on-one. I teach my students how to think like an artist. I show them how to study their work and ask questions based on core art principles. We discuss what they want their artwork to say. This problem solving approach builds independent thinking, giving students a strategy to correct their own work and make it stronger. Please join us! All materials included. Snacks provided.
